George,

I hope you dont mind me communicating with you since this an open wing chun forum. I am sure Duncan Leung will answer your message. May I ask you some questions? Because I didnt understand your message so well.

You have been studying wing chun for a long time it seems and you only third rank? I dont get it. From my own experience with TWC, you should be at least a gold slash instructor level or higher even if you progress at a very slow pace, George? Are you now an able instructor under William Cheung? I am assuming with all those years behind your training, you should be able and capable of teaching and applying William Cheung traditional wing chun tactics?

Out of my own curiousity, did you ask your own sifu why you should punch with the bottom three knuckles or better why you should only use the little finger knuckle?

I will comment that wing chun fist is based on its theory then its form. I dont want to go into the theory but if you play wing chun then you should know what I mean by wing chun theory. The
optimal structure of the back, shoulder, and wrist (arm) will articulate the ideal form of a wing chun fist and its transfer of force. For example, you can test out the proper wing chun fist by doing neutral wrist sun fist push ups (single or double) and see and feel your own structure and weight distribution. You notice that your last three knuckles can balance the force/weight behind your wrists, elbows, and back. You should a stronger knuckle structure in this position then if you place the all your
leverage on the little knuckle of your fists. I hope this helps and I may be wrong about this? Let see what Sifu Leung has to say?

Cheers,
Bao
