HitMan:
I never
wrote that you will being unfair to Sifu Leung. I was just saying
the way we practice wing chun today isn't the same wing chun which
was practiced in the past. Likewise the wing chun Duncan Leung and
his classmates is using isn't exactly the same wing chun was used
200 years ago. The reason being is because of the introduction of
different fighting styles and fighting experience.
What is
the difference of using wing chun forms to create new techniques and
using wing chun concepts to create wing chun techniques from other
systems of fighting? Is it possible to adapt other systems into your
way to fighting? Is the art more important than the artist? There
are no absolute correct answers. Whatever you do with wing chun gung
fu and whatever you get out of it, just be sincere, honest, and
respectful is what I believe in.
You wrote that we modern
day practitioners or sifu(s) in wing chun are lazier and have it
easier than the past masters of wing chun. True. Could it be argue
it is the same way for chinese sifus who we deem as authentic? No
one sifu has grip hold of the truth on wing chun. Are there poor
students or sifus now? Yes, it was the same back in days in Hong
Kong as well.
Yes I do believe you who have not been taught
properly, with very little real fighting experience, who have to
read up on books and articles in the internet inorder to understand
what wing chun is about and to improve my wing chun skill by myself
without a teacher? Why I believe this is because I was taught by a
seminar-educated no real experience wing chun sifu in NYC. It was
only when I met Sifu Alan Lee that I have a better understanding of
wing chun.
Yes, I would believe you if you are teaching wing
chun now without have been trained like methods as Sifu Leung. As
there are many poor teachers, there are a few good teachers in wing
chun. It is up for the student to use common sense and do the
research. Would I belive your claim as teacher of wing chun? I have
already mentioned I was fooled before and there are many suckers in
the world.
"Why students like me who have access of a lot of
information about wing chun, but still can not apply it or improve
it?
Information is not enough, dude. You need to do some
hardwork and softwork. You need a sincere and good sifu to guide you
and show you how it looks and "feels." For example, you can read all
the medical books in library but that doesnt make you a sound and
excellent doctor.
"I know I can improve some aspect of wing
chun in theory, but can I do it in practise. The answer is no.
Why?"
Good question, I want to listen what Sibak Duncan Leung
has to say about
this...
