Dear Bao, Thank for
your reply. However, owing to my poor communication skills and
choice of words you have partially misunderstood my question. This
is due to my part and I wish to apology to you, if you feel that I
have being unfair to Sifu Leung.
What I meant by past masters
- the people who can use their martial skills in a fight regardless
whether they are alive or dead. Those are the people who could
improve their own fighting systems, because they have the skill and
understand about fighting. What I meant by modern day
practitioners - people who enjoy fast food service and do not want
to spend the time to train properly, but would like people to
consider them as experts in martial arts. Also those who have not
been trained properly in any martial arts. This including myself.
Would you honestly believe people like me who have not been
taught properly, with very little real fighting experience. Who have
to read up on books and articles in the internet inorder to
understand what wing chun is about; to improve my wing chun skill by
myself without a teacher? If I told you that I can improve my
wing chun and start teaching people wing chun, but without going
through the same training method as Sifu Leung. Would you belive my
claim? No, you would not and instead you would call me a conman and
a liar. You will also said that I am conning my students. The
real meaning of my question is why students like me who have access
of a lot of information about wing chun, but still can not apply it
or imrove it. I know I can improve some aspect of wing chun in
theory, but can I do it in practise. The answer is no.
Why? This is what I really
after
